Pool update and BBQ area.

I will put in a wall light and plug sockets either side of the BBQ also the worktop height will allow for you to put in an under counter (beer) fridge if needed.

The block work is now finished with the exception of possibly raising the BBQ wall, these photos should give you an idea of the finished wall heights, I think we have managed to give some privacy without loosing the views.
When we build the water feature the wall height will seem even lower.

Let me know if you want anything changed.

The backfill is now in and we have vibrated the soil with a compactor, then laid down a steel mesh with steel reinforcing bars with the screed on top.

The picture below has the man pointing out the shower drain to the left of the gate way.

I think 4 blocks high around the pool is enough but it might be sensible to raise the BBQ area at least 2 or 3 more block for wind protection. I will also install two low plug sockets on the BBQ wall.

The walls for the terrace are now in, tomorrow is a fiesta so will backfill on Thursday, then it will start to look like a pool.
The block work is seperated every few meters with a reinforced column for added strength this is also connected to the foundations

Hi Ron,
Here are some up to date pictures of the pool.

Water was delivered on Monday so work is cracking on again.
Water pump is fine.
The steel has been put in the pool base and the copper wire for the earth has been soldered to it with two one metre copper spikes driven in to the ground to insure a good earth for the electrics.
Each layer of blocks has a 12mm thick ring of metal going through it, the blocks are hollow and then filled with concrete. So in effect the blocks work as a shuttering for the steel and concrete walls of the swimming pool.
I have put in the two swimming pool lights, five inlet jets for the return of the water after filtration, two skimmers, the sump and an extra connection for cleaning the pool. I have added this because, through experience, it´s much easier to clean the pool using a separate connection rather than using the skimmer (better suction).
Could you let me know what shape pool stairs you would like. e.g. curved or square?

We finished pouring the swimming pool base last Thursday and have now started the block work which is now at the half way stage.
I have had to pull the men off the job for a few days as we have just been hit by a sirocco (hot winds from Africa) The temp reaches 110 degrees in the shade by about 11.30 am.
I am aiming to have completed the swimming pool structure and plumbing by Saturday, weather permitting.

Had a good day with no complications, digger just squeezed through and most importantly we managed to dig down to the required pool depth without hitting rock. There was no electrics on site so I brought down the generator to give us power for the water pump. Had to dampen down to reduce the dust for the neighbours.

Stage 1 completed.
Now I am going to wash the dust off……
